ADJUSTING THE COIL TATTOO MACHINE

HOW TO ADJUST THE COIL TATTOO MACHINE CORRECTLY

ADJUSTING THE COIL TATTOO MACHINE

At the beginning, we would like to point out which parts of the tattoo spool machine affect its proper operation.

First of all, there is the hammer: The weight of the hammer is decisive. The heavier the hammer we have, the slower the tattoo machine and the lighter the hammer, the faster the tattoo machine. By default, the weight of the hammer is around 10g to 14g. The needle is also clamped to the hammer and secured with so-called T rubber bands.

There are also planchets for the tattoo machine. Here they are decided by several aspects, such as how the foil is bent, what its hardness is or how wide it is.

The wider the foil, the harder it is. We need a harder foil to speed up the tattoo machine and a soft one or narrower one to slow down the machine.

There are also spools, which, unlike planchets and hammers, we usually do not replace in the machine, and therefore it depends on which machine we buy. That is, how many threads (can also be stated how many threads). The more threads there are, the stronger the machine. But for all the work, we usually don't need the strongest tattoo machine. Usually bobbin tattoo machines range from 8 to 12 turns (wraps).

Last but not least, a capacitor is important for the operation of the tattoo machine. The larger the capacitor (the larger its value), the stronger but slower the machine we choose. On the contrary, the smaller (smaller value) the capacitor we have, the weaker the machine is, but the operation is faster.

For lining, it is advisable to have the tattoo machine set up so that it is fast. It is therefore suitable: lighter hammer, capacitor with a smaller value, harder foil. Needles marked RL are used for lining.

For painting or shading surfaces, it is advisable to have the machine set so that it is slower. It is therefore suitable: a heavier hammer, a capacitor with a larger value and a softer foil. Needles marked RS are used for coloring or shading smaller areas, needles marked M (magnum) are more suitable for coloring large areas. The higher the value of the needle (3,5,9,11, ...) we have, the stronger the machine is needed.

SETTING THE COIL MACHINE IN PRACTICE:

At the beginning it is necessary to emphasize that there is no exact instructions on how to set the bobbin machine and it is necessary that the person who will operate the machine also think when setting up the machine :)

After successful completion of the machine and connection to the tattoo source, set the source to approx. 9V. Remember that the contact screw must touch the end of the plate. Depress the tattoo pedal and keep it depressed. By loosening the side plastic nut, you will allow the movement of the contact screw so that you can either screw it into the plate or loosen it. This way you can set the bobbin in the base, do not forget that the sound of the machine must be smooth and must not tear your ears. If the hammer of the shaver sticks to your spools after pressing the shaver, you probably have the blade tightened too much, if the shaver does not react at all, you probably have either a small voltage on the source or the blade has tightened a little. Realize that the work and especially the perfect setting of the bobbin machine is not for a while and it will take you some time. What is perfect, however, is that the spool machine can be modified at any time later. Want to make a liner a shader? Why not? :) Learn to change the plates, hammers and spools and everything is possible.
